Welcome to Youth Urban Action

Empowering Youth in Urban Regeneration

Welcome to Youth Urban Action, a dynamic project fostering the active participation of young people in urban regeneration and local community development across Europe and beyond.

The Youth Urban Action project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, is dedicated to empowering youth and youth organizations in urban transformation. Through international cooperation and mobility, we aim to create inclusive urban spaces and promote active citizenship.

Our Partners

Our project involves numerous young people and various European civil society organizations. As Urban Center, we are proud to be among the promoting partners of this initiative. Our partners include:

      • SCI Austria
      • BuWa (Germany)
      • Creator (Romania)
      • Urban Center (Italy)
      • Gençlik ve Değişim Derneği / Youth and Change Association – Diyarbakir (Turkey)

From December 2022 to April 2024 and beyond, we are organizing a series of meetings to initiate discussions between international actors, enhance participant training on urban regeneration, and promote active citizenship among new generations.

Project Objectives

The objectives of our small-scale partnerships include:

    • Creating and developing transnational networks
    • Promoting new synergies with and between local, regional, national, and international policies
    • Raising awareness on the valorization of urban contexts as spaces of social inclusion and community development
    • Counteracting gentrification and urban speculation

We aim to research, develop new educational materials, and organize local urban events to further our mission. Join us in our journey to make urban spaces more inclusive and vibrant for everyone.

Recent Events

Our latest event in Cagliari involved ten participants from European and non-European countries engaging in discussions about new possibilities for the city’s development. The Sardinian partner of the project is Urban Center, a non-profit organization focused on innovation and creativity to improve the quality of life in territorial systems.

We promote the regeneration of public space through youth protagonism, thanks to a series of creative processes that utilize participatory methodologies. Cagliari becomes a stage for young Europeans who want to develop innovative knowledge and projects for the territory and urban development.

Workshops and Activities

Three workshops involved the local community and trainers from Austria, Germany, Romania, and Turkey. Highlights included:

    • The navigable Terramaini – La Palma Canal project
    • The Galleria del Sale, an open-cycle contemporary art space
    • Urban creativity actions and explorations of the area
